On February 16, 1967, the BO105 took off for its maiden flight in Ottobrunn (near Munich), Germany. At the controls was Wilfried von Engelhardt, test pilot at MBB (Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm), the German predecessor company of Eurocopter.
