COLUMBIA, MD, Nov 23, 2009 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) --
Integral Systems, Inc., (Nasdaq:ISYS) today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Newpoint Technologies and SAT Corporation, with support from Clearbox Systems, will provide integrated ground station network support to BAE Systems' Australia JP2008 Phase 3F Program. The combined contracts are valued at approximately $3M for Integral Systems.
The JP2008 Phase 3F Program supports the Australian Defence Force Satellite Communications Capability (ADSCC). BAE Systems Australia will construct and design a new satellite ground station and network management system to interface deployed forces accessing the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) system with the Defence Wide Area Network, and Australian Defence Headquarters and support elements. The project is due to be operational by 2013.
Newpoint Technologies and SAT Corporation are providing critical services to ensure successful communications management for JP2008 Phase 3F. Newpoint Technologies will provide its Compass Network Management solution that allows operators to monitor and control equipment at two satellite ground stations and two operations centers. SAT Corporation's MonicsNET Carrier System Monitoring will monitor X-band, Ka-band, and UHF antennas at two earth stations, as well as provide In Service-In Orbit Testing (IS-IOT). Compass software will work in tandem with Monics to update users regarding network status and services.
Clearbox Systems, a subcontractor to Newpoint Technologies, will automate the addition of new services using its Profile Manager by automatically establishing the equipment at the site through Compass and adding/removing carriers to the Monics Carrier Monitoring Plan through the Monics/Compass Interface. Clearbox is also providing a Redundancy Client for Compass that will allow services affected by an equipment failure to be moved to a properly working and available equipment chain, as well as providing local program management support.
"Compass provides a mature and flexible platform upon which we can build some very sophisticated systems," said Paul Solomon, Managing Director of Clearbox Systems. "It provides all the core functionality out of the box and allows us to focus on the key areas of customization and innovation without needing to re-invent the wheel. One of its key strengths is its extensive open API which allows us to hook into any aspect of the system."
"We are proud to provide our integrated services and partner with BAE Systems Australia in support of Australia's defense," said Stuart Daughtridge, Executive Vice President of Products for Integral Systems. "The interface of our products, the ability to build out the system as needed and enable local management of operations will allow for network efficiency with the best commercially available tools."

ARLINGTON, Va., Nov 23, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
BAE Systems, through its US Combat Systems line of business, and teammate Navistar Defense, LLC have successfully completed the critical design review (CDR) for the U.S. multi-service Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) program.
The CDR was completed as part of BAE Systems' 27-month JLTV Technology Development (TD) contract received in October 2008. The CDR marks the completion of the design process and the start of vehicle integration, assembly, test and checkout (IAT&C) activities to deliver test vehicles to the government by May 2010.
"This review demonstrates the BAE Systems-Navistar JLTV design is mature and balances program payload, protection and performance requirements," said Mark Signorelli, vice president and general manager of New Vehicles & Amphibious Systems for BAE Systems. "We are pleased that our design -- built around the needs of the Warfighter -- passed this significant milestone and we are looking forward to moving into the test and evaluation portion of JLTV's TD phase."
"Completing this review is a big event for the BAE Systems-Navistar team," said Kevin Thomas, director, new product, Navistar Defense. "As we head into the next portion of the TD phase, we will continue to enhance our offering to ensure our customer receives the best vehicle possible."
The BAE Systems-Navistar team has developed two JLTV prototypes for internal testing that have provided valuable information being used in the CDR. The company is incorporating this information to put forward the best possible offering that meets program requirements. The JLTV design also incorporates lessons learned from the U.S. Department of Defense's Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle program and features the latest in lightweight, advanced armor and a V-shaped hull design to provide unmatched crew protection.
The team builds off the two companies' current leadership in armored and tactical vehicle development and support. Combined, the BAE Systems-Navistar team maximizes JLTV program value through proven capabilities, lean manufacturing and extensive worldwide logistics support. The team also includes Arvin Meritor, which is a leading designer and manufacturer of automotive advanced mobility systems and is the largest axle supplier to the U.S. military.
The BAE Systems-Navistar team draws on top talent from across the country. Sites participating in the development include: York, Pennsylvania; Ontario, San Diego and Santa Clara, California; Dearborn Heights, Sterling Heights and Troy, Michigan; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Johnson City, New York; Austin, Texas; Nashua, Hew Hampshire; Reston, Virginia; Melrose Park and Warrenville, Illinois; Fort Wayne, Indiana; West Point, Mississippi; Huntsville, Alabama; and Laurinberg and Aiken, South Carolina.

Nov 18, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
BAE Systems and the U.S. Navy announced they have been recognized with the 2009 Secretary of Defense Performance-Based Logistics Award.
The team won the award for its work on the AN/ALQ-126B electronic countermeasures subsystem, used on more than 700 Navy and U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 A-D and AV-8B aircraft.
The AN/ALQ-126B was the first multimode, power-managed, reprogrammable defensive electronic countermeasures system used by the Navy and Marine Corps. It provides radio frequency jamming of pulse-mode radar-guided threats to the F/A-18A-D and AV-8B.
"Performance-based logistics definitely provides an edge to the business of weapons systems management," said Marion Blakey, president and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association, which developed the Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) Awards program with the Department of Defense and Defense Acquisition University. "The pressures on our maintenance and modernization budgets make these types of partnerships a model for the future."
The PBL awards recognize excellence in providing those in combat with exceptional operational capability through teaming agreements for system, subsystem, and component teams.
The Navy awarded a $28 million, five-year, firm-fixed-price PBL contract for the AN/ALQ-126B system to BAE Systems in 2005. BAE Systems is responsible for managing all facets of the supply chain to ensure availability of spares to the warfighter. In partnership with the Navy's Fleet Readiness Center Southeast, BAE Systems has provided depot-level repair and warehousing that minimized repair turnaround time, improved availability, and eliminated awaiting parts problems that existed prior to the PBL venture.
BAE Systems is a global defense, security and aerospace company delivering a range of products and services for air, land and naval forces, as well as electronics, security, information technology solutions and customer support services.
