ATT Bolsters Wireless Network for Syracuse Customers - Zibb.com
Zibb.com | 6 hours 54 minutes ago
AT&T is supporting its commitment to Syracuse area customers with its largest wireless network investment in the region since 2005.
The company's planned $80 million investment in the upstate/western New York area this year will bring the planned four-year territory investment total to more than $250 million.
Part of the 2008 investment plan calls for more than 50 new cell sites in upstate. Locally, AT&T said it plans to double the size of its high speed mobile broadband footprint in the Syracuse area. AT&T's 3G wireless network currently brings mobile broadband capability to customers in Clay, Cicero, East Syracuse, Fayetteville, Liverpool, Manlius, Minoa, North Syracuse, Solvay and Syracuse in Onondaga County. Later this fall, AT&T will bring its 3G network to additional cities and towns in Onondaga County, and expand to parts of Oswego County as well.
"AT&T's wireless network in Syracuse is better than ever. We aren't the same AT&T that you might have known years ago. Our planned network investment this year underscores our dedication to consumers and businesses in upstate New York," said Jay Summerson, vice president, External Affairs for AT&T in New York.
The wireless network speed lets customers download a 5 MB file in 25 seconds, a three minute song (about 3MB) in 15 seconds and a ringtone that might take one minute and 45 seconds over slower mobile technologies -- only takes an average of 25 seconds on AT&T's 3G network, the company noted in a release.

ATT Revs Up Services in Lancaster County - Zibb.com
Zibb.com | 6 hours 55 minutes ago
AT&T announced services are now available on the third-generation (3G) mobile broadband network in Pennsylvania's Lancaster County -- including the iPhone 3G being launched on July 11.
With the addition of 3G technology to 35 cell sites, AT&T said its wireless data network has been expanded throughout the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country including Lancaster, Manheim, Landisville and Millersville University. The 3G network has also been enhanced along Routes 30, 222, and 283 and complements the 3G network already in service in Reading, Allentown and Harrisburg.
"We are committed in providing a first-class network experience for our customers each time they make a call, send a text message or read an e-mail on a AT&T wireless device," said J. Michael Schweder, president of AT&T Pennsylvania. "This year AT&T plans on spending more than $60 million across the state to enhance coverage, capacity and grow the 3G network. Since 2005, AT&T's planned spending has exceeded $550 million in the state."
"AT&T continues to lead by example with this significant investment in Lancaster County," said Kelly Lewis, president and CEO of the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania. "Lancaster businesses are deploying some of the most advanced technology in many industries including agriculture, manufacturing, and defense technologies, and AT&T's 3G technology will greatly enhance and grow these capabilities."
AT&T said its 3G network provides the simultaneous delivery of voice and data. With a compatible 3G device, consumers connect to razor-sharp clips through CV, an on-demand streaming video service, and can download games, pictures and music, entertainment, news and weather through MEdia Net, the company's mobile Internet portal.

AT&T announced services on the third-generation (3G) mobile broadband network in New York's Suffolk County, which will also include the iPhone 3G launching on July 11.
The AT&T 3G network on Long Island now extends from New York City through Nassau, Suffolk Counties out to Montauk Point and covers Fire Island, Shelter Island and Fisher's Island.
"AT&T is committed to delivering a superior network experience every time our customers make a call, send a text message or read an e-mail on their AT&T wireless device," said Jay Summerson, vice president, AT&T External Affairs for New York. "In 2008, AT&T plans to spend more than $200 million to enhance, expand coverage and capacity and grow the 3G network.
