Aeroflex Test Solutions: Aeroflex announces advanced field tests with the hand-held Aeroflex 3500
Wichita, USA, Jul 31, 2008 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
Aeroflex has announced the release of new software for its 3500 1GHz hand-held Radio Test Set to support Survey Technologies' Field Test 6 Software. Now, users of the Aeroflex 3500 Series can improve and automate the acquisition, analysis and display of signal strength across a given terrain, as well as inside buildings. Field Test 6 has expanded the drive-test measurement concept to include indoor measurement and analysis for applications where GPS is not available. The hand-held capability of the Aeroflex 3500, along with the Field Test 6 software, now allows users to map out their building or geographical areas and find any sections that contain a weak signal. Armed with this information users can improve critical communications within those areas.
"The Aeroflex 3500 with software release 3.2.0 facilitates advanced testing of signal strength and provides a very portable, hand-held solution for mapping signal strength inside buildings. Weighing only 3.9Kg, the Aeroflex 3500 is ideal for anyone that needs portable signal strength tests," says Rob Barden, Director of Product Marketing for Aeroflex.
In addition to the support for the Field Test 6 software, version 3.2.0 also now supports a new audio oscilloscope feature for viewing demodulated audio signals or for use in troubleshooting audio circuits.

Aeroflex Employs CommAgility's Signal Processing AdvancedMC Module for LTE Wireless Test Mobile -
Zibb.com | Aug 10, 2008
Aeroflex, a provider of specialised test and measurement equipment, announced it has selected CommAgility's AMC-D4F1 module as a component in its TM500 LTE Test Mobile platform.
The TM500 LTE Test Mobile is designed to provide for the 3GPP LTE (3G Long Term Evolution) infrastructure development, test and rollout. Each AMC-D4F1 module includes four 1.2GHz Texas Instruments (TI) TMS320C6455 digital signal processors (DSPs) and a Xilinx Virtex-4 FX series FPGA, providing signal processing performance. A 10Gbps SRIO infrastructure provides deterministic bandwidth for data transfers on and off card, and separate Gigabit Ethernet is provided for control, management and delivery of baseband or other processed data streams.
Evan Gray, TM500 manager, Aeroflex Wireless Division said, "CommAgility's AMC-D4F1 was chosen because it provides superior processing power and density. CommAgility delivered working product quickly enabling our development to start early. It combines technical excellence with speed of development, for example it was the first subsystem vendor to support TI's 1.2 GHz C6455 DSP. CommAgility has also consistently provided excellent technical support from day one of our engagement with them."
"CommAgility is quickly becoming a leading provider of wireless AdvancedMC Modules with their TMS320C6455, TMS320TCI6482 and TMS320TCI6487 processor-based products," said Sandeep Kumar, business manager for Growth Infrastructure Markets, TI. "This current design win is a key endorsement of their capabilities in the wireless test and measurement arena."

Aeroflex Test Solutions: Aeroflex announces a major breakthrough in radio test, alignment speed and
Aug 04, 2008 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
APCO International 2008, Kansas City, USA -- Aeroflex has announced the release of new Motorola Auto-Test II test and alignment support for Motorola XTS-5000 radios. This new capability allows users of the Aeroflex 3900 Series to automatically test and align radios with minimum user intervention. The new software is available for all Aeroflex 3900 Series products currently in the field, including the 3901, 3902 and the new 3920 Series.
"The Aeroflex 3900 with Auto-Test II is a major breakthrough in radio test technology. Now users of the Aeroflex 3900 Series can eliminate their computer as an integral part of the alignment and test of Motorola radios," said Rob Barden, Director of Product Marketing for Aeroflex. "Motorola XTS-5000 radio operators can confidently test and align their radios simply by pushing a button."
The Aeroflex 3900 connects directly to the radio via a USB or RS-232 connection and controls the radio directly without the need for a separate computer. It is entirely a closed loop system. Since it does not rely on an external computer, this new application is significantly faster than current automated test and alignment software. In addition, the 3900's inherent accuracies mean that the radios are aligned to a much higher standard than was previously available.
Aeroflex is a licensee of the control command technology from Motorola. Aeroflex currently provides a wide range of features for a number of Motorola radio technologies, including Project 25 and HPD .
The new Auto-Test II application will be available in October 2008 as a charged for option.
