Barnes & Noble to Open New Store at 861 North East Mall Boulevard Hurst, Texas - Zibb.com

Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), the world's largest bookseller, will open a new bookstore on May 21 in The Shops at North East Mall at 861 North East Mall Boulevard, Hurst, Texas. Concurrently, the existing store at 8525 Airport Freeway, North Richland Hills, Texas, will close. The new store will stock close to 200,000 book, music, DVD and magazine titles and include a cafe serving Starbucks coffee. The Shops at North East Mall Barnes & Noble will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, and employ approximately 60 people from the community.

The public is invited to a Preview Night Party at The Shops at North East Mall Barnes & Noble on Tuesday, May 20, from 6 to 9 p.m. A portion of the Preview Night sales will benefit the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District (HEB ISD) and Birdville Independent School District. Elementary school students from HEB ISD Suzuki Strings will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. Students from Central Junior High School Suzuki Strings will perform from 8 to 9 p.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. with Barbara Richardson, coordinator of media services, HEB ISD. Clifford the Big Red Dog will be on hand to meet his fans.

Barnes & Noble.com to sell magazine subscriptions in two formats - Zibb.com

Barnes & Noble.com, a wholly owned subsidiary of bookseller Barnes & Noble, has announced that it will be selling magazine subscriptions in both digital and print formats.

BN.com said that it will sell subscriptions to over 1,000 magazine titles, available in both digital and print formats, at prices up to 90% off newsstand cover prices. Digital subscriptions will be available within minutes of purchase for viewing on desktops and laptops. In addition, more than 12,000 back issues of hundreds of magazine titles will be available digitally for purchase as single copies, according to BN.com.

BN.com has partnered with Zinio to fulfill digital magazines and with M2 Media Group to provide fulfillment services for paper-based magazine subscriptions.

Rich Maggiotto, CEO of Zinio, said: "Together, BN.com and Zinio will take the reading experience to the next level by delivering high-quality digital products quickly and in a format suited to the readers' needs and interests."

Barnes & Noble Promotes Jaime Carey to Chief Merchandising Officer - Zibb.com

(NYSE: BKS), the world's largest bookseller, today announced that Jaime Carey, who has served as Vice President of its Newsstand business, has been promoted to the newly created role of Chief Merchandising Officer. In his new role, Mr. Carey will assume responsibility for the merchandise buying of all departments, including book, music, DVD, magazine and gift.
