Carmanah Technologies Lights up Florida Roadways with Solar Street Lights - Zibb.com

Carmanah Technologies Corporation (CMH - TSX)(QCX - FWB)(CMHXF - OTCBB_Pink_Sheets),

Lockheed Martin is upgrading its Lake Underhill Facility in Orlando, Florida with solar-powered streetlights from Carmanah Technologies. While building on the company's past successes with energy-efficient lighting, this new innovation underscores an ongoing commitment to Lockheed Martin's commitment to reduce energy usage in its facilities worldwide. The powerful new street-lighting system will be supplied by HD Supply and SESCO, Carmanah's lighting representatives for the Central Florida region. In addition to providing significant savings on installation and wiring, the stand-alone lighting alternative is expected to return significant energy savings during the next 20 years.

The decision to choose solar-powered LED lighting came as a result of a facilities condition assessment. Upon determining that the Lake Underhill Facility's existing roadway lighting had reached the end of its useful life - including all underground wiring - Lockheed Martin identified a stand-alone solution as a practical and cost-effective lighting alternative to trenching and wiring a new system of conventional hard-wired lights. Based on earlier successes with LED lighting installed elsewhere at the location, facility staff identified a system of solar-powered LED streetlights as the best configuration. Lockheed Martin selected a Carmanah EverGEN(tm) 1520 solar-powered street light, featuring a bright, dark-sky friendly BetaLED(tm) LEDway(tm) street light fixture.

Over the coming weeks, Lockheed Martin will install the new lights along the main entrance roadway and the main loop road serving the Lake Underhill Facility. While delivering a reliable source of bright, uniform light derived from the limitless resources of the sun, the solar LED street lights will help underscore the company's larger commitment to sustainable business practices through environmentally friendly technology.

Carmanah EverGEN(tm) 1500-series street lights are available now from Carmanah Technologies. For more information on solar LED lighting, visit www.carmanah.com.

Formula One Circuit Deploys Carmanah Technologies Solar Solutions - Zibb.com

This fall, the world of motorsport will celebrate a new venue when the first Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix takes place on Yaz Island from October 30th to November 1st.

The Yas Marine Circuit incorporates solar-LED lighting technology from Carmanah Technologies, provided by Carmanah's authorized distributor in the Middle East, PTL Solar.

Designed to perform reliably in some of the world's most challenging environments, Carmanah said its solar-LED obstruction lights are compact, durable and self-contained, making them a suitable choice for a range of applications - whether helping to mark a sweltering airfield runway, a frozen navigational buoy, or obstructions along a busy roadway. For this application, one hundred Carmanah 600-series lights will help mark potential hazards to ground and air traffic including towers, lamp standards and obstructions along the YAS Marina Circuit's trackside. Other Carmanah solar-LED technology at this location includes two internally illuminated windsocks, designed to accommodate round-the-clock helicopter service.

As the only motorsports venue in the world to offer covered grandstands for all (50,000+) spectators, the new Yas Marina Circuit will also be the first Formula 1 venue to start the race in daylight and end during nighttime. Lighting technology throughout the facility will ensure a transition from daylight to dark, providing a consistent daylight effect, while eliminating shadow or glare for drivers and spectators alike. As part of this optimized lighting environment, Carmanah stated that its LED lighting equipment will offer a safe and practical solution.

Designed for optimum visibility, Carmanah's time-tested A601 and A650 obstruction lights offer more than 250 possible flash patterns, and can be ordered in a choice of blue, yellow, green, white, or as in this case, red light outputs.

Nuclear Power Plant Goes Solar With Off-Grid LED Outdoor Lighting - Zibb.com

Carmanah Technologies Corporation (CMH - TSX, QCX - FWB, CMHXF - OTCBB_Pink_Sheets),

One of California's largest state utilities, Southern California Edison (SCE), is lighting up the night with solar technology at its San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS). To illuminate its main employee parking areas, Edison is equipping the site with solar-powered LED lights from Carmanah Technologies (TSX: CMH). By using solar technology as an alternative to traditional grid-powered lights, the EverGEN(tm) 1500-series lighting system can provide a reliable source of bright uniform illumination while avoiding the costs and challenges typically associated with trenching, cabling, and accessing electrical grid power.

Featuring custom BetaLED(r) light fixtures, Carmanah solar-powered lights offer superior output and performance in accordance with IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) guidelines. A full-cutoff "Dark Sky"-friendly design directs light only where needed (preventing glare or spillover of light onto neighboring properties or into the night sky), while integrated energy management capabilities ensure optimal lighting performance year round. With no bulbs to replace and a five-year battery life, the EverGEN 1500 lights will help Southern California Edison reduce maintenance and operating costs while serving as a lasting, practical investment in renewable energy technology.

EverGEN 1500-series solar LED lights are available now from Carmanah Technologies. For more information, visit www.carmanah.com.
