Oil and gas exploration company Crimson Exploration Inc (OTCBB:CXPO) announced on Tuesday a net loss of USD8.6m for the third quarter of 2009. A This is a fall when compared to a net income of USD50.2m for the third quarter of 2008. The results included a non-cash, charge and gain of USD9.9m (USD6.4m net of tax effect) in 2009 and USD88.9m (USD57.8m net of tax effect) in 2008 to reflect the unrealised mark-to-market value of the company's commodity price and interest rate hedge instruments. A Revenues of USD26.9m were generated in the third quarter 2009, compared to USD53.8m in the same period of the previous year. The decrease in revenues was due to an approximate 29% decrease in both production and realised commodity prices. A Production for the third quarter 2009 was 3.5 Bcfe of natural gas equivalents (38,271 Mcfe per day), when compared with production of 5.0 Bcfe, (54,126 Mcfe per day) in the comparable quarter of 2008.
