Curtiss-Wright Aero Soars in Q2 - Zibb.com
Jul 30, 2008 (Zacks Investment Research via COMTEX) --
Curtiss-Wright Corp.'s (CW) Q2-08 EPS is up 25.0%, to $0.60 from $0.48. Its Q2-08 net sales were up by 24.0% to $453.5 million from $365.6 million. The Aerospace/Defense Sector is entering the sweet spot of this cycle. Commercial deliveries of new models have yet to start in earnest, while deliveries of more mature marks continue apace. Maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of both commercial and military equipment is at a heightened level because of increased usage, which engenders a vibrant after-market. However, while robust levels of revenue and income are envisioned for CW over the balance of the decade, we believe that present market conditions -- coupled with our current outlook -- render CW fairly-valued; hence our Hold opinion. New orders received in the first six months of 2008 were $1,327.2 million, up 75% compared to the first six months of 2007. On June 30, the backlog stood at $1,745.4 million a record, up 34% from $1,303.8 million at December 31, 2007. According to the CW management's current guidance for 2008, revenue stands in the range of $1.83 billion to $1.85 billion, operating income in the range of $215 million to $222 million and free cash flow of between $90 million and $100 million. However, a substantial portion of CW's revenue and earnings depend upon the continued willingness of the U.S. Government and other customers in the Defense industry to buy its products and services. Failure to comply with certain U.S. Government sourcing requirements may adversely affect cash flow. Read the full analyst report on CW
