Gilat Satellite Networks reports net income in Q3 - Zibb.com

Gilat Satellite Networks, a provider of satellite networking technology, solutions and services, has reported a net income of $2.5 million, or $0.06 per diluted share, for the third quarter ended September 30, 2009, compared to a net loss $0.5 million, or $0.01 per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2008.

For the third quarter of 2009, total revenues were $54.6 million, compared to $65.3 million in the third quarter of 2008.

For the first nine months ended September 30, 2009, total revenues were $171.5 million, compared to $201.4 million for the same period of 2008. Net income was $1.5 million, or $0.04 per diluted share, compared to $5.3 million, or $0.13 per diluted share, in the same period of 2008.

Amiram Levinberg, CEO and chairman of Gilat Satellite Networks, said: "This quarter, our financial results continued to show stability and we continued to increase our cash position by maintaining our cost control measures.

"We are pleased to announce that Susan Miller has joined Spacenet as CEO of Spacenet Integrated Government Solutions (SIGS). SIGS will focus on expanding our reach to new customers including the department of defense, homeland security, the intelligence community and government related agencies."

Gilat Satellite Networks receives contract from government defense agency - Zibb.com

Gilat Satellite Networks has received a multi-million dollar contract from a government defense agency in Asia, to deliver a turnkey broadband communications solution.

Gilat's turnkey solution will integrate technology platforms and will include its SkyEdge II high performance platform, enabling the delivery of high-speed data, video and voice applications to serve the different units within the organization.

Gilat's SkyEdge II is a multi-service platform enabling the delivery of high-quality voice, broadband data and video services for diverse environments including enterprises, rural networks, cellular backhaul and government network applications, the company said.

SkyEdge II is a standards-based system using DVB-S2 and DVB-RCS. With better efficiencies and full adaptivity for both the inbound and outbound channels, it provides higher performance that serves the growing requirements of end-users, the company added.

Gilat's portfolio of SkyEdge II VSATs are all supported by a unified platform. The newest addition to Gilat's SkyEdge II portfolio is NetEdge, a dedicated solution for multi star networks, specifically designed to meet the needs of corporations and cellular backhaul applications, the company added.
