EA Releases Hasbro Family Game Night 2 - Zibb.com

The Play Label of Electronic Arts Inc. announced it has released Hasbro Family Game Night 2 for the Wii and Hasbro Family Game Night for the Nintendo DS.

The sequel to last year's Hasbro Family Game Night video game collection brings five new Hasbro games to the Wii platform this year and, for the first time, gives on-the-go fans some portable fun with four games for the Nintendo DS.

According to a release, Hasbro Family Game Night 2 for the Wii brings five top-selling favorites to the console platform, including: Operation, Jenga, Bop It, Pictureka, and Connect 4X4. Up to four players can jump into original gameplay modes for each of the games or they can enjoy new modes which include "Jenga Chance Blocks" where players hammer escaping blocks or remove "Bomb Blocks" before they explode. The title also offers a GameShow Party mode, where players are transported to a live GameShow in front of an in-game studio audience, with Mr. Potato Head as the host, while players play as their own Wii Mii characters. As host, Mr. Potato Head beckons players to spin the Challenge Wheel to determine which game they will play.

"EA is committed to bringing friends and families together around the TV for engaging, wholesome interactive entertainment," said Chip Lange, Vice President and General Manager of EA's Hasbro Division. "With Hasbro Family Game Night 2, we've added some great game experiences to our line-up that range from a zany GameShow mode to addicting family classics like Operation, Bop It and Pictureka. We're sure Hasbro Family Game Night 2 will provide lasting memories and enjoyable times this holiday season."

"Game fans will be thrilled to see even more classic Hasbro-branded games re-imagined for digital platforms with Hasbro Family Game Night 2 for the Wii and Hasbro Family Game Night for the DS, which both offer consumers a powerful new blend of content and value," said Mark Blecher, Vice President and General Manager of Digital Media and Gaming at Hasbro. "The lineup of games will instantly inject digital fun into a family gathering or serve as great on-the-go travel entertainment as consumers head into the holidays."

Hasbro Studios Names Kathy Samuels as Executive Producer - Zibb.com

Kathy Samuels -- an industry veteran with a proven track record of success during stints at both CBS Television Distribution Group (CTDG) and NBC -- has been named Executive Producer at the newly-formed, Los Angeles-based Hasbro Studios. In this new role, Samuels will be responsible for overseeing production on a number of the Studio's creative initiatives, covering a variety of program genres, according to Stephen J. Davis, Hasbro Studios President.

Samuels' engagement follows her work at CTDG, television's number one syndicator of programming. As CTDG's Senior Vice President, Samuels was part of the team that oversaw the development, launch and programming of shows like "Rachel Ray", "The Doctors", "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider".

"I've had the great fortune to work on some of the best brands in television," Samuels said. "However, as a working mom, I've always had a personal and professional passion to make great television for kids, and in the kid and family arena, Hasbro owns and has access to the best brands in the business. I see Hasbro Studios as a perfect fit for my skills and interests, and it presents me with a wonderful opportunity."

Prior to CTDG, Samuels spent more than a decade at NBC. As Senior Broadcast Producer, Samuels helped launch the nationally syndicated news magazine show "Access Hollywood" and its teen spin off "Real Access" for the Noggin network. Previously, she was the Entertainment Producer for KNBC Los Angeles.

Hasbro Studios president Stephen J. Davis said, "Kathy comes to Hasbro Studios with a solid track record as a top producer and has been closely involved with some of television's most successful and enduring franchises. The Studio is establishing itself as a home for great talent -- and Kathy's vision and creativity complements the talented group of professionals we have been putting in place here."

Hasbro Studios' productions will feed the new television network created by the joint venture between Hasbro and Discovery Communications (NASDAQ: DISCA, DISCB, DISCK), that is planned to debut Fall 2010. New programming is planned based on iconic Hasbro brands such as ROMPER ROOM, TRIVIAL PURSUIT, SCRABBLE, CRANIUM, MY LITTLE PONY, G.I. JOE, GAME OF LIFE, TONKA and TRANSFORMERS, among many others. In addition, the "virtual" studio will produce programs from top third party content creators. Many of these shows will run on multiple channels in international and domestic markets.

Who's smarter than who? Trivial Pursuit launches an experiment to settle the age-old argument - Men

Not since Billie Jean King beat Bobby Riggs in straight sets in 1973, setting the record for the largest tennis audience and purse awarded up to that time (point for the girls!) has the BATTLE OF THE SEXES* been so publicly played out.

TRIVIAL PURSUIT, the ultimate authority on trivia, is throwing down the gauntlet and asking women and men to represent their team and take part in the experiment to find out if the age-old question can be answered once and for all through trivia.

Played out on www.trivialpursuitexperiment.com, simply log on to join in and earn points for your brotherhood or sisterhood by answering as many questions as you want. Each question you answer correctly will earn a point for your team - so will boys give Newton a run for their money or will girls walk hand in hand with Marie Curie?

Who can impress the most with their banter at dinner, or over a drink after work with colleagues in this day and age where every nugget of knowledge is revered as a precious social commodity? Knowing that coconuts kill more people than sharks each year, that the best matadors in Peru used to be women or that every second 200 stars are born is sure to come in handy at some point!

"TRIVIAL PURSUIT, the game that created our obsession with trivia, wanted to try an experiment to see if trivia can answer the age-old question," said Jane Ritson-Parsons, Global Brand Leader for TRIVIAL PURSUIT. "We're not taking sides, just providing the platform to watch this battle play out. Can you afford not to take part?"

For those who may feel they aren't smart enough to participate, TRIVIAL PURSUIT says: "WE DON'T BELIEVE YOU!!" TRIVIAL PURSUIT knows that "smartness" isn't measured by intelligence tests or school report cards, but rather is gathered from everyday experiences, learned street smarts, an obsession with celebrity magazines and maybe a little bit of book learning. Show us your "Inner Genius" - that internal source that may know every statistic from the last soccer season, the lyrics to all the songs by their favorite girl group, the nutritional value of a croissant and the hours the local pub closes each night.

Every now and then however we all have moments when our inner genius seems to temporarily abandon us. TRIVIAL PURSUIT says "we want to hear about these too! After all, we're all only human!" The most hilarious happenings will qualify for a TRIVIAL PURSUIT WEDGIE AWARD, the 'Palme d'Oofus' of brilliant blunders.

Will the boys win through, girls reign supreme or was Henry Kissinger right when he said, "Nobody will ever win the battle of the sexes. There's too much fraternizing with the enemy!"

The experiment can also be played out at home with the new TRIVIAL PURSUIT Team Edition. Instead of using the traditional right or wrong questions found in previous versions, the Team Edition introduces six new question formats, including multiple choice and name six. The game is played in rounds, so there is no need to collect wedges - you just have to be on the team that's ahead at the end of the game. Play Trivial Pursuit Team with your friends and family. You'll be surprised what you know, what your friends know, and what you didn't even know you knew.

New Trivial Pursuit Team Edition is available now and is recommended for players ages 12 and up.
