LM Ericsson (ERIC) Could Be Approaching New 52-Week High - Zibb.com

LM Ericsson (NasdaqNM: ERIC) closed yesterday at $10.38. So far the stock has hit a 52-week low of $5.49 and 52-week high of $10.92. Ericsson stock has been showing support around 10.17 and resistance in the 10.51 range. Technical indicators for the stock are Bullish and S&P gives ERIC a positive 4 STAR (out of 5) buy rating. ERIC appears on the Investors Observer Analysts Favorites list. For a hedged play on this stock, look at an Apr '10 10 covered call (RQC DB) for a net debit in the $9.13 area. That is also the break even stock price for this trade. This covered call has a 162 day duration, provides 12.04% downside protection and a 9.53% assigned return rate for a 21.47% annualized return rate (comparison purposes only). A lower cost hedged play for this stock would use a longer term call option in place of the covered call stock purchase. To use this strategy look at going long the ERIC Jan '11 5 Call (VYD AA) and selling the Apr '10 10 call (RQC DB) for a $4.45 debit. The trade has a 162 day life and would provide 8.96% downside protection and a 12.36% assigned return rate for a 28.00% annualized return rate (for comparison purposes only). Ericsson has a current annual dividend yield of 1.51%.

Sigma Systems Signs Global Reseller Agreement with Telecom Supplier Ericsson - Zibb.com

Sigma Systems, a company in Advanced IP Service Fulfillment solutions, announced a global reseller agreement with telecom supplier Ericsson that will provide next-generation order management and fulfillment solutions to telecom operators worldwide.

The agreement enables Ericsson to resell Sigma Systems' Service Management Platform, a carrier-grade platform that allows rapid service creation, order management and automated provisioning, and Sigma's service management solutions for triple-play -- including high-speed data, and IMS-based IPTV and VoIP -- to its hundreds of telco customers.

The combination of Ericsson's expertise in delivering technology, solutions and services to telecom operators and Sigma Systems' Service Management Portfolio -- will bring the following benefits to the Next-Generation Operator (NGO):

-- Increased profitability and accelerated time-to-revenue by deploying

residential triple-play services faster and delivering service bundles

-- Ability to deliver any service over an IMS infrastructure and any

combination of networks access technologies, such as fiber to the home

(FTTH) and DSL

-- Improved productivity through automated provisioning and activation of

voice, video, and data services

-- Enhanced customer satisfaction resulting from reliable service

fulfillment, reduced order fall out, and self-service portals

-- Reduced operations costs realized by consolidating existing order

management and provisioning systems, and eliminating manual tasks

"Telecom operators are increasingly deploying IP-based services such as IPTV, leading to the need for cost-effective creation of service bundles for triple-play," said Martina Kurth, research director, Carrier Operations and Strategies, for Gartner. "Operators need order management and fulfillment solutions that enable next-generation service transformation, speed time to revenue, and allow new multimedia services to be added to existing offerings."

Sigma Systems' Service Management Portfolio of fulfillment solutions are designed to deliver VoIP, Internet, IPTV, unified messaging, and multi-media services across network domains and to an unlimited range of IP-enabled end-user devices. Core to Sigma Systems' portfolio of complete, service fulfillment solutions, is the Service Management Platform (SMP). Standards-based and carrier-grade, SMP delivers faster time to market for new services; more efficiency and accuracy in business processes; and integration and data integrity across the enterprise.

Sigma Systems' SMP includes a broad range of solutions for operators, including broadband, voice, video (TV, pay per view, video on demand, online video, customized applications, and advertising), and commercial services.. Sigma provides reusable solutions for triple-play and quad-play in the telecom environment, independent of access technology.

"The agreement with Ericsson enables us to further advance our commitment to bring next-generation order management and fulfillment to telecom operators, and allows us to extend our proven, multi-service fulfillment solutions to a broader set of global next-generation operators," said Gary Gibbs, vice president of Channel Development at Sigma Systems.

Sigma Systems is a company in delivering IP service fulfillment solutions.

Frbiz.com Evaluates Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 - Zibb.com

Frbiz.com, one of China's leading B2B search platforms with more than 30 B2B industry websites to its name, evaluates the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is the first Android phone from Sony Ericsson

As the fourth in the XPERIA phone series, the Sony Ericsson X10 does not have the sliding cover design like the X1 or X2, and it has a mirror-type full-touch screen. The phone is 119 x 63 x 13 mm in size and weighs 135g.

Perhaps some people think it a bit heavy, but it weighs the same as the currently popular Hero Google phone. The XPERIA X10 is even slimmer than the Hero by 0.7mm; all in all Android phones are known for their portability.

Despite the huge mirror screen, which covers almost the entire front of the phone, the Sony Ericsson X10 has three silver metal physical buttons at the very bottom, which contrast well with the black mirror design. It is worth mentioning that, in addition to the far right return key, the other two keys are appearing for the first time in the XPERIA series.

The body around the shortcut keys and data interfaces to a certain extent reflects the phone's design idea; this part of the Sony Ericsson X10 still embodies a sense of calm simplicity. The right side of the phone is separately equipped with volume control keys and a camera shutter key, while ornaments can be attached at the bottom of the phone. The most commonly used Micro USB data jack, 3.5mm headphone port and power button are located at the top of the phone. In order to prevent dust from entering, the Micro USB interface has a special plastic soft plug. Since the main interfaces are distributed on the top of the phone, there is nothing on the left side.

Apart from excellent screen configuration, the Sony Ericsson X10 equally spares no effort in the camera. Not only is there an 8.1 mega pixel camera, but also auto focus and LED flash support. In order to further enhance mobile entertainment, the phone also joined the previous Cyber-shot phones in having image anti-shake, smile detection, up to five people's facial recognition and 16x digital zoom among other functions, which has greatly increased users' picture taking pleasure, but the phone does not have a protective cover on the lens.

As a representative of a new generation of Google mobile phones, the Sony Ericsson X10 is not equipped with the latest version of Android 2.0; instead, it has the same version of Android 1.6 as the HTC Tattoo, which means that the phone does not have the 2.0 versions of Google Maps navigation, SMS search, browser search, multi-touch technology, and many other features.

Android 2.0 or no, the Sony Ericsson X10 has a strong processor. From a practical point of view, indeed, it has one GHz of Qualcomm QSD 8250 Snapdragon processor, not only once again more than the HTC Hero, but also like the Motorola Droid has just hit the Google phone record (550 MHz), leading all Android phones.

In addition, the Sony Ericsson X10 (http://www.frbiz.com/catalog/9/electronic_components_supplies.html ) has built-in 1 GB memory and also 256 MB RAM and an attached capacity of 8 GB of microSD memory card. It is worth mentioning that the memory card's mobile phone battery warehouse is located next to the battery, due to which plug location is blocked. It does not have hot-swap functionality; only 1 GB of memory for a cell phone is somewhat inconvenient.

As for other aspects, the Sony Ericsson X10 also supports GSM / GPRS / EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS / HSPA 900/1700/2100 network frequency bands; it has built-in GPS positioning and navigation module and supports the WLAN wireless local area network. It also has USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.0, Google Maps and other technical applications. In addition, the phone comes with Exchange ActiveSync, e-mail synchronization, flight mode, calculator, alarm clock and other commonly used functions for business people. The media, players and cool PlayNow music downloads and music or Demo 3D games are also available.

At the same time, Sony Ericsson has also launched a support for FM radio-enabled wireless stereo headphones -- MW600. This model uses high-tech gas-tight type earplugs, with sound quality perfectly restored through the headphones. In addition, the headset is also equipped with OLED display, RDS radio-wire operation, and information.

New position in Ericsson Group Management Team to drive implementation of new brand strategy -

Ericsson's (NASDAQ: ERIC) in-coming President and CEO Hans Vestberg has appointed Cesare Avenia to a new position in the group management team where Avenia will be responsible for driving the implementation of Ericsson's new brand strategy. Cesare Avenia is presently head of market unit South East Europe and will take on his new position as Chief Brand Officer November 9, 2009.

Ericsson is the undisputed leading supplier in the telecom industry and has strengthened its position significantly in the 21st century. Fundamentals for the industry are positive, mainly driven by the growing demand for broadband and connectivity. Ericsson has over the past year developed a new brand strategy to leverage opportunities and meet challenges to come in the next few years.

"We will move from traditional telecom to IP, we see how we move from being a hardware to a software business and we will see an evolution and modernization of the networks rather than the past years vast rollouts of new networks", says in-coming President and CEO Hans Vestberg. "This requires us to change our ways of working as well as business and engagement models. Our ability to develop competence, behavior and position are key success factors and we are repositioning our brand to capture these new opportunities." The brand stands for a company's capabilities, strategic direction and differentiation from competition. It shows the direction to the market and its employees.

"Our brand must not only speak about our ambitions, but drive our ambitions", says Cesare Avenia. "My role will be to build confidence and help facilitate change in the organization. I will focus on guiding our colleagues in this transformation to secure long-term value growth."

Hans Vestberg says; "Cesare's experience from many part of Ericsson and deep knowledge of our customer needs makes him well suited to head this important task. He has an inspiring management style and I look forward to welcoming him in our Group Management Team."

Cesare Avenia joined Ericsson in 1994 when he was appointed marketing manager for division Mobile Systems. In parallel, he has been teaching industrial marketing at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome. During the years with Ericsson he has hold different managerial positions, like head of Division Switching and Network Systems in Italy, head of Region Middle East and Africa, head of market unit Middle East and in 2003 he was appointed head of Ericsson Italy. Since 2006, he is head of market unit South East Europe and member of the extended group management team.

Cesare Avenia was born in 1950 in S. Maria Capua Vetere in Italy. He has a degree in Electronics Engineering. He is married and has two children.
