Metso signs 1,2 billion euro loan agreement

Metso Corporation wins EUR400m contract in Brazil - Zibb.com

Finnish engineering and technology group Metso Corporation (OMX Helsinki:MEO1V) said on Thursday (21 August) that it will supply the main technology for Aracruz's new 1.5-million-tons/yr bleached hardwood kraft (BHK) pulp line, to be built at their Guaiba mill in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Metso's scope of supply covers the entire fiber line comprising pulp cooking, screening and washing, bleaching, drying and baling, as well as the recovery boiler and white liquor preparation systems.

Metso will also provide process control systems, including the necessary analysers and special equipment for quality and runnability management.

The order is valued at close to EUR400m.

The expansion will raise the mill's total annual capacity to almost 2 million tons, the company added.

Metso, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, provides technology and services to customers in the pulp and paper industry, rock and minerals processing, the energy industry and selected other industries. The group has nearly 27,000 employees in some 50 countries and reported net sales of EUR6bn in 2007.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.26 euros (EUR).

Metso Corporation reports Q2 operating profit of EUR155.2m - Zibb.com

Finnish engineering and technology group Metso Corporation (OMX Helsinki:MEO1V) reported on Thursday (24 July) an operating profit of EUR155.2m on sales of EUR1.63bn for the second quarter 2008.

The operating profit remained stable at EUR155.2m and sales for the three-month period increased from EUR1.54bn, as compared to the corresponding period in 2007.

Earnings per share (EPS) amounted to EUR0.72 up from EUR0.68 a year ago.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 1.26 euros (EUR).

Metso bags Rs 230-crore order from Indian steel majors - Zibb.com

Metso Minerals, a global supplier of equipment, services and process solutions for rock and minerals processing, today said it has bagged work orders worth Rs 230 crore from leading steel players JSW Steel, Essar Steel and BMM Ispat for supply of machines and equipment.

On an expansion spree in India, the company has received Rs 112-crore order from Essar Steel Ltd and Rs 72.5-crore from JSW Steel for supply of iron induration machines, a statement from Metso Mineral said.

It added that Bharat Mines and Minerals (BMM) Ispat has also placed Rs 44.5-crore order with Metso Minerals for supplying equipment and basic engineering to benefit iron ore fines through gravity separation and high gradient magnetic separation at its plant site at Danapur in Karnataka.

It also said the iron ore induration machine ordered by JSW Steel is meant for its Vijayanager plant in Bellary, Karnataka.

The JSW order comprises a 464 square meter induration machine with 177 pellet cars with a feed rate of approximately 375 tons per hour of iron ore pellets, it added.

Metso Minerals has announced its plans to invest about 30 million euro in India to set up Metso Park, a multi- functional industrial facility in Alwar, Rajasthan.

The company would also expand its manufacturing and foundry capacities in India with a combined investment of 12.5 million euro.
