November 20, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- Microsemi Corp. (NASDAQ: MSCC), a leading manufacturer of high performance analog/mixed signal integrated circuits and high reliability semiconductors, announced that it now has shipped power over Ethernet products having 70 million ports for powering devices ranging from WLAN access points and IP phones to security cameras and thin-client computers.
Microsemi's PoE products include midspan power injectors capable of supplying up to 60 watts of power, and advanced PoE controller components used to design Ethernet switches and midspans.
Microsemi's shipment of its 70 millionth port was delivered as an integral part of the company's PowerDsine PD9000 midspan system to The John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
"We looked at a variety of options to provide power across our extensive wireless LAN and VoIP network, which spans three buildings and serves more than 1,900 students, staff and faculty," said Amish Patel, Systems Operations Engineer at The John Marshall Law School. "Microsemi's PoE midspans provided the solution we were looking for to eliminate the use of potentially hazardous power bricks installed throughout the campus in a maze of ceilings and cabinets."
Microsemi's 70-million-port milestone combines the aggregate shipments of a number of products in addition to the PD9000 midspan series. Also contributing to the total shipments are Microsemi's fourth-generation PD69012 and PD69008 IEEE802.3at high-power PoE integrated circuits for managing power sourcing equipment. The company has secured more than 30 design wins for these new PoE PSE managers.

IRVINE, Calif., Nov 20, 2009 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) --
Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq:MSCC), a leading manufacturer of high performance analog/mixed signal integrated circuits and high reliability semiconductors, and Mitel Networks, a leader in VoIP communications, have agreed to add the full line of PowerDsine(R) midspan products from Microsemi as exclusive power over Ethernet (PoE) solutions for Mitel DataNet's comprehensive product portfolio.
Mitel's DataNet division designs, distributes, and supports an integrated, comprehensive solution for their customers' complex data and telecommunications needs. The complete integration and validation of the LAN, WAN infrastructure, along with the implementation of state-of-the-art security technologies, allows Mitel to provide the right environment for successful VoIP implementations.
"By forming this relationship with Microsemi, Mitel now has the option to power our IP Phones and partner WLAN access points and cameras with PowerDsine midspans, the most advanced and manageable power injectors in the market," said Ryan Donovan, Mitel DataNet National Sales Director. "PowerDsine PoE midspans from Microsemi are the optimal solution for customers seeking to deploy VoIP when they have sufficient switch hardware, but lack PoE capability. With PowerDsine midspans our overall system can have smart on-demand power availability, with secure manageability and IPv6 compatibility."
All PowerDsine products -- ranging from single-port to 48-port midspans -- are offered through the Mitel DataNet division, including the new high power PD9000G family that supports IEEE802.3at devices and uniquely can provide mutual midspan backup.
"The new Mitel DataNet agreement leverages all the features available in the PowerDsine product line, allowing Mitel customers to migrate to VoIP while upgrading their underlying infrastructure to include power over Ethernet -- but without having to replace their existing Ethernet switches," said Sani Ronen, Product Marketing Manager for PowerDsine products at Microsemi.
