'Rostelecom acquires 200th LINX 10 GbE port' - Zibb.com

Russian telecommunications operator Rostelecom has taken the 200th 10 GbE port at the London Internet Exchange. This interconnection upgrade is a direct response to growth of traffic in the international segment of Rostelecom IP MPLS network and was implemented to enhance capacity and improve quality of telecommunications. LINX already has 685 connected member ports. Of the 342 LINX members 111 are now running one or more 10GigE across the exchange.

'Rostelecom revenues down 2.2% to RUB 45.40 bln' - Zibb.com

Russian telecommunications operator Rostelecom saw revenues in the first nine months of 2009 drop 2.2 year-on-year, to RUB 45.40 billion. Revenues from data transmission and telematic services almost doubled in the period, to RUB 3.75 billion, while revenues from value-added services AcaeaEURoe including data, leased lines and intelligent network services AcaeaEURoe registered a 1.5 fold increase to RUB 4.52 billion, accounting for 10 percent of total revenue. OIBDA amounted to RUB 9.35 billion, with an OIBDA margin of 20.6 percent. Operating profit went down 32.0 percent to RUB 6.01 billion at 30 September. Net profit reached RUB 4.55 billion, down 34.3 percent year-on-year. Outgoing international traffic fell 14.1 percent year-on-year to 1.29 billion minutes, while domestic long-distance traffic decreased 7.5 percent year-on-year to 6.95 billion minutes.

'Rostelecom connects European points of presence' - Zibb.com

Russian long-distance acrrier Rostelecom has deployed a high-speed ring structure connecting its European points of presence in Amsterdam, London and Frankfurt. Rostelecom connected access points in these cities to the company network using high-performance routers and the new optical fibre communication channel with a capacity of 20 Gbps. The Russian operator's partners on the project are Danish operator TDC and Finland's Elisa. The expansion of the international network infrastructure provides Rostelecom with a wide geographical coverage and increased reliability as well as service backup for communication links with the networks of international operators. For further development of the international segment of the company's IP/MPLS network, Rostelecom plans to expand cooperation with foreign operators, including through international traffic exchange points.

Rostelecom sees 85% drop in H1 net profit - Zibb.com

Rostelecom's net profit under IFRS plummeted 85.4 percent to RUB 1.431bn (approx. USD 49.3m) in the first six months of 2009, the Russian telecommunications company reported today. Consolidated revenue edged up 4.4 percent to RUB 32.774bn (approx. USD 1.13bn). Earnings from data transfer and intellectual communication services more than doubled to RUB 4.7bn (approx. USD 162m), and their share in consolidated revenue reached 14 percent. On the whole, Rostelecom's revenue from new and additional services climbed 29 percent to RUB 10.466bn (approx. USD 361m). Meanwhile, OIBDA dropped 26.9 percent to RUB 5.7bn (approx. USD 196m), and OIBDA margin stood at 17.5 percent against 25 percent in January-June 2008. Rostelecom's consolidated financial statement includes the operating results of the company and its subsidiaries.
