TiVo, Amazon Reach Television Shopping Agreement - Zibb.com

July 23, 2008 (FinancialWire) TiVo (NASDAQ: TIVO) and Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN) (Current Market Cap: US$28.39 Bil.) have reached an agreement to allow consumers to purchase products from Amazon through their television sets using a TiVo remote control.

The new program, dubbed Product Purchase, will also allow customers to search for and buy products associated with shows, movies, actors, and directors. Purchases will be secured with a PIN associated with the user's Amazon account.

TiVo plans to launch the new service to consumers by merchandising products related to several high-profile programs, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Colbert Report, and Burn Notice. Broadband-connected Series2, Series3 and TiVo HD DVRs will be able to take advantage of the new feature.

TiVo Joins With TRA to Provide First of its Kind Audience Research Product - Zibb.com

TiVo Inc. (Nasdaq: TIVO), the creator of and a leader in advertising solutions and television services for digital video recorders (DVRs), and TRA, Inc. Through this partnership, TRA will be drawing anonymous viewing data from TiVo's base of 1.7 million stand-alone subscribers. Seven plugs in its DVR and joins battle - Zibb.com

Australia's Seven Network hopes its new TiVo digital video recorder (DVR) will reduce the flow of viewers to pay TV. The TiVo DVR will compete against Foxtel's new iQ2 recorder. TiVo allows viewers to automatically record their favourite programs on all free-to-air channels and their digital multi-channels, and skip advertisements. The DVR will be sold for $A699 with no subscription fee, but viewers will need a broadband connection. Fusion Strategy MD, Steve Allen, is doubtful TiVo will be a compelling alternative to the iQ2, which can record 100 pay channels as well as free-to-air TV.
