China LCD TV vendor Konka to produce LEDs for backlighting

China-base LCD TV vendor Konka is entering the LED industry, with the company planning to start construction on a plant in Kunshan, China in mid January 2009 to produce LEDs for use in backlight units (BLUs), according to media reports from China.
