Paoli, Pa. - To expand its position in analytic instrumentation, Ametek Inc. announced Jan. 2 that it has acquired Instruments for Research and Applied Science (IRAS, Oak Ridge, Tenn.) from PerkinElmer Inc. (Boston, Mass.) for about $63 million cash.
