COOLING TOWERS AND EVAPORATIVE CONDENSERS Cooling towers and evaporative condensers are an efficient and cost effective means of removing heat from air conditioning, refrigeration and industrial process cooling systems. They have been in use for more than half a century. They are compact, quiet, consume little energy and save more than 95% of the water in circulation. They are simple to operate and maintain and, with the use of these Guidelines, system efficiency and safety are assured. How a Cooling Tower or Evaporative Condenser Works There are several types of configurations of cooling towers and evaporative condensers but all work on the same principle. In an open circuit cooling tower the water to be cooled is distributed over a fill pack whilst air is blown or drawn through the packing.
