Akzo Nobel’s High Purity Metalorganics unit is increasing the price for the following products, effective October 1: Epi-proof tertiarybutylarsine (TBAs) will increase by $2.50 per gram; and Epi-proof tertiarybutylphosphine (TBP) will increase by $2 per gram.

PRICE TAGS FOR IMPORTANT PURCHASES ARE RISING, according to 31% of buyers surveyed. The highest figure we've seen since January of 1998, and an eighteen-point jump over last month. Still, over half of the buyers surveyed report prices as holding steady.

Nova Chemicals Corp. will form a 50-50 joint venture with Grupo Idesa to produce expandable polystyrene (EPS) for construction and packaging applications. The new JV, Novidesa SA de CV, will be formed by a cashless transaction and will begin operations in September.
