Statement by Civic Progress, The Regional Business Council, and The Civic Council of Greater Kansas City
ST. LOUIS and KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 5, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
The business
communities of Kansas City and Saint Louis today hailed the news that an
attempt to reverse decades of affirmative action progress will not be on the
November ballot in Missouri.
Civic Progress, The Regional Business Council, and The Civic Council of
Greater Kansas City -- representing the interests of the leading businesses
from Missouri's two largest metropolitan regions -- helped fund the effort to
keep the anti-affirmative action initiative from reaching the fall ballot.
Members from all three groups said that the drive to eliminate affirmative
action programs would have hurt their businesses, and the communities in which
they operate, severely.
