Guardian News & Media Joins Mochila as Premier Content Provider on Online Media Marketplace

Guardian News & Media has joined Mochila, the first global online media marketplace for text, video and photo content, as one of its premier content providers. Mochila's Marketplace is one of the largest repositories of high-quality, rights-managed content from the most well-respected names in media globally.

As a member in Mochila's marketplace, Guardian News & Media will syndicate multi-media content from their Web site, Guardian.co.uk. Mochila will power the Guardian's ability to reach new markets by distributing its content to Mochila's networks of high-quality Web sites via its suite of highly customizable ad-supported widgets and other publishing products.

"The Guardian's vast array of content provides unrivalled coverage of the arts, business, sports, travel and news," said Collin Hughes, managing director of Guardian Professional. "By becoming part of the Mochila community, we are continuing our strategy of broadening the distribution channels for our trusted news and information, while extending the reach of Guardian News & Media."

Mochila's Marketplace is constantly updated with millions of articles, photos and videos from many of the largest, most recognized media providers.

"The Guardian is one of the world's great content brands as well as one of the most web-savvy," said Keith McAllister, CEO of Mochila. "By joining Mochila, the Guardian is making its great content easily available for other publishers to acquire and re-publish."

About The Guardian

The Guardian newspaper was founded in 1821 and has a long history of editorial and political independence. Its network of websites was launched in 1999 and Guardian.co.uk is now the one of the UK's most popular. For the past three years Guardian.co.uk has been voted the best newspaper on the web at the Webby Awards.

Unlike most media organisations which are owned by a proprietor or group of shareholders. The Guardian is owned by the Scott Trust, a unique form of media ownership in the UK, which secures the continuity and editorial independence of the Guardian. Not owned by shareholders, dictated to by a press baron or influenced by a political party, Guardian journalists are free to present the truth as they see it.
