Stonesoft Introduces StoneGate Intrusion Prevention System
SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Jun 27, 2008 (ASCRIBE NEWS via COMTEX) --
Stonesoft, a provider of integrated network security and connectivity solutions, has introduced the new StoneGate Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) 4.3.
With this version of its StoneGate IPS software, Stonesoft noted, it further extends its inline serial clustering capabilities in its IPS appliance, allowing organizations to add more security appliances to meet the growing capacity needs, according to company officials.
The company noted that the StoneGate IPS 4.3 acts as a combination IPS and Firewall appliance monitoring and blocking access to information for unauthorized users.
"Technologies like VoIP and video conferencing are generating more network traffic than ever before and organizations are struggling just to meet the bandwidth requirements to keep systems running. With all that traffic, there is a greater chance of vulnerability," said Mark Boltz, Senior Solutions Architect with Stonesoft. "StoneGate IPS 4.3 is ideally suited to monitor the heaviest of traffic loads and prevent security breaches. If an organization's traffic load increases, the StoneGate IPS can easily be clustered to boost performance by as much as 60 percent."
Stonesoft also said that the release of StoneGate IPS 4.3 also fully supports IPv6. While the migration to the new IPv6 protocol is still progressing slowly, it has become standard for newer technologies, such as Microsoft Vista, which automatically attempts to use IPv6 addresses, whenever these are available. StoneGate IPS is designed to provide full internal network protection by inspecting both IPv6 traffic and its encapsulated formats over IPv4 and IPv6.
