Sears Canada Inc. launches the "National Kids Cancer Ride" Challenge

On June 2, 2008, nearly 50 riders will embark on a 7,600 km trek over 19 days, cycling from coast to coast across Canada. Local cyclists, covering distances ranging from 5 to 225 km, will join the National riders as they pass through major cities linking oncology centers.

One of our Sears associates from Quebec will participate in this formidable event. Daniel Charpentier, Sales Representative from the Sears Brossard store will courageously pedal along with the 50 National riders in the "Sears National Kids Cancer Ride" to help children afflicted with cancer and their families.

"The goal of this event is to collect $1.5 million and my personal objective is $12,500," said Mr. Charpentier when explaining the reason for registering in this grueling event. "I want to face this challenge for those who are unable to. I feel that this is the best way for me to transmit my energy and give them the courage to persevere in their fight."

"The cyclists will pass through the Province of Quebec on June 16 and 17 and we invite all our customers and associates to make a donation in support of this valiant effort."

To show support for Daniel Charpentier in his quest, Sears challenges all its customers and associates from its 26 full-line Sears stores in Quebec to set up an amazing fund-raising campaign on Friday, May 23, 2008, beginning at 10:00 a.m., on behalf of the "Sears National Kids Cancer Ride".
