Qatar's Doha Bank to open office in Seoul in September
SEOUL, Jul 28, 2008 (Asia In Focus via COMTEX) --
The DOHA BANK is a small
lender based in Qatar, but it was ready to play a "gateway"
role in helping South Korean companies trying to expand their
presence in the oil-rich Middle East market, its chief
executive said. Raghavan Seetharaman, CEO of Qatar's
third-largest lender, was in Seoul last week to prepare to open
a representative office in Seoul in October.
* It is the bank's first move to secure its foothold in the
world's 13th-largest economy.
* The Doha Bank, Seetharaman said, would be particularly
helpful for South Korean builders and other companies wanting
to expand their business in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab
Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait which are members of
the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
