Company: McAfee Inc (MFE)
eema, the Independent European e-Identity & Security Association, has revealed the world leading expert speakers that will participate at ISSE (Information Security Solutions Europe), in Madrid, 7th to 9th October 2008. The Senior Vice President of McAfee Inc., Chris Kenworthy and Advisor Directorate General for Information Society and Media, European Commission, Detlef Eckert will deliver keynote addresses during an opening plenary that includes welcomes from the Spanish Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Society, Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade and the Executive Director of ENISA.
Chris Kenworthy, Senior Vice President of McAfee Inc., will deliver a keynote address on the first day entitled Evolving cyber-threats and corporate challenges to combat user, web and data risks'. He will be followed by Advisor Directorate General for Information Society and Media, European Commission, Detlef Eckert who will present on the topic, Security and IPv6: challenges and opportunities'.
Kenworthy comments on the invitation to present at the 10th annual ISSE conference, "ISSE 2008 has a reputation for promoting an open forum that encourages knowledge sharing. I am looking forward to discussing the issues customers face and what we as a security vendor are doing to address them. I'm also keen to hear from the audience and the other speakers to learn more about the specific challenges organisations across Europe face."
On day two, Howard Schimdt, Security Strategist at (ISC)2 and former White House Cyber Security Advisor will moderate the panel debate, Assessing the International Response to Information Security Attacks'. UK Cabinet Office representative Nick Coleman, the Chief Security Officer at Oracle, Mary Ann Davidson and former Principle of Asia Network Research, Aizu Isumi, will join Schmidt. The discussion will gauge the differences that exist in regional responses to individual concerns, from increasing sophistication in malware and the cyber terrorism threat, to growth in social engineering and ongoing concern over insecure practice in software development.
Schmidt and the panel will evaluate the tactics employed by commercial and government sectors, as well as law enforcement and industry associations, recognising the limitations associated with particular groups. The panel will identify opportunities for global co-ordination, with a view to minimise the impact of these threats on business and society.
Since its inception, ENISA has strongly supported ISSE with sponsorship and taking an active role in the organisation of the event. Executive Director of ENISA, Andrea Pirotti, who will himself present a welcome address at the conference explains, "The topic of network and information security is getting more and more attention from the industry, political decision makers and consumers. Having stable electronic communication networks and being able to make secure transactions is key to economical development throughout Europe." Pirotti continues, "ENISA is contributing to sustainable economical growth and welfare. One of the strengths of ISSE is that it gathers independent experts from various constituencies that are dealing with information security. This is the place to come together and discuss emerging topics in a high professional atmosphere."
Over 100 guest speakers will be at ISSE 2008 (the full programme for ISSE 2008 is available at www.isse.eu.com), tackling the issues including trusted computing, biometrics, digital identity, fraud prevention, privacy and data protection, the security of mobility and the economics of security. Delegates from European governments, academic institutions and technology experts will unite to debate and share best practice, via four partner session tracks across three days, including presentations, panel discussions, round table sessions and accompanying workshops.
Executive Director of eema, Roger Dean says, "We are honoured to have such influential figures in the security sector taking part in the ISSE conference. With big industry names like Microsoft, DNV Research & Innovation, McAfee, Seagate, Philips and CA, I am confident that this will be our most successful event yet.
