American Honda July vehicle sales decrease

American Honda Motor has reported that its total vehicle sales in July 2008 decreased 9.2% to 138,744 units, compared to 141,049 units in July 2007.
The Honda division posted sales of 125,916 units in July 2008, a decline of 8.2%, compared to 126,668 units in July 2007. Honda's total car sales increased 6.7% to 82,976 units, compared to 71,755 units in July 2007.
Honda light truck sales decreased 27.8% to 42,940 units in July 2008, compared to 54,913 units in July 2007. The Acura division posted sales of 12,828 units, a decrease of 17.7%, compared to 14,381 units in July 2007.
Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales for American Honda, said: "The uncertainties in the market have been quite profound in the past few weeks. We are adjusting our production to meet the rapidly changing needs of buyers and are confident these changes will provide the needed inventory as we move forward."
