Telstra selects Tektronix network management suite

Tektronix, a provider of communications network management solutions, has announced that Telstra Corporation, an Australian telecommunications company, will deploy its Unified Assurance network management suite throughout its high-speed wireless broadband network.

Telstra, which currently uses the GeoProbe network assurance solution from Tektronix's Unified Assurance (UA) suite to monitor and troubleshoot its 2G, 3G, VoIP and fixed networks, will now implement GeoProbe across its high-speed wireless broadband network.

According to Tektronix, GeoProbe will provide Telstra with reliable monitoring of its wireless networks and services, resulting in the managed delivery of the Telstra Next G network, which provides coverage for more than two million square kilometers or 99% of the Australian population.

Tektronix claims that the implementation of UA suite of applications will enable Telstra to consolidate its existing network management solutions and achieve a single unified approach. Unified Assurance will provide unified dashboard views, reporting across both wireless voice and data, and improved end-to-end management of services, while reducing operating costs.

Doug Dickerson, vice president and general manager of communications products at Tektronix Communications, said: "GeoProbe will enable Telstra to continue to deliver high quality services to its customers. Based on Unified Assurance's proven platform and architecture for next generation networks, we are confident in our ability to support Telstra's Next G network."
