MTC Invites Marin County Residents to Help Steer a Better Course for Bay Area Transportation

What is your vision for the future of Marin County and Bay Area transportation? Please share your views at a San Rafael workshop sponsored by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC):

                             Monday, May 19, 2008
                               6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
                  Marin County Transportation 2035 Workshop
                    San Rafael Community Center Auditorium
                           618 B Street, San Rafael

MTC, working in conjunction with other regional agencies, is undertaking a major update to its long-range transportation plan for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. Known as "Transportation 2035: Change in Motion," the effort signals MTC's commitment to promoting sustainability and mobility in the face of continued growth and global warming impacts.

Following extensive outreach in the fall of 2007 and the submission of hundreds of possible transportation projects, MTC now seeks input on the next phase of the development of the Transportation 2035 Plan: the trade-offs among various options for investing the region's limited transportation resources. A series of nine workshops -- one in each of the nine Bay Area counties -- is scheduled for the public to participate in the debate. "This is a timely opportunity for Bay Area residents to give voice to their transportation priorities," noted MTC Commissioner Steve Kinsey, who also serves as a Marin County Supervisor. "Right now the Transportation 2035 plan is still taking shape. Input from the public will help determine how we invest their tax dollars over the next 25 years."

The San Rafael meeting comes near the end of the series. If you are not available to attend the Marin County event, please feel free to attend an earlier one in another county. (See below for dates and locations for each of the meetings.)
