Freescale Semiconductor has appointed Lisa Su as the senior vice president and general manager of networking and multimedia. She replaces Lynelle McKay, the prior general manager, who recently announced her departure from the company.
Ms Su joined Freescale in 2007 as senior vice president and chief technology officer, leading the company's technology solutions organization and driving the company's technical roadmap and R&D activities. She will continue in the role of chief technology officer until a replacement is announced.
Prior to joining Freescale, Ms Su led global semiconductor R&D for IBM and also held various technical and business positions at IBM including vice president of technology development and alliances in the Systems and Technology Group and director of the PowerPC product line.
Rich Beyer, chairman and CEO, said: "Freescale's embedded processing and advanced multicore technology continues to change the playing field, driving innovation in the networking market, as well as expanding opportunities in areas such as consumer, storage, printing and industrial. Lisa's significant technology and product management experience make her an excellent choice to lead this business."
