Defence- (Pak-Japan to further boost ties)

Pakistan and Japan have reiterated their desire to further enhance and broaden bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, economy and particularly defence. This was discussed at a meeting between Federal Minister for Defence, Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar and the Japan Ambassador to Pakistan, Seiji Kojima, who paid a farewell call on the Federal Minister for Defence, Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar here Wednesday.
The meeting underscored the need for exploring new avenues of cooperation for the mutual benefits of the two sides. The counter-terrorism efforts made by Pakistan also came under discussion during the meeting.
The Minister highlighted the anti-terrorism measure and expressed the resolve that Pakistan was committed to combating terrorist elements till their utter elimination.
Seiji Kojima deeply appreciated the efforts made by Pakistan against the war on terror.
He added that Japan supported Pakistans anti- terror efforts and would continue to supply fuel to its Naval ships which are taking part in the Coalition Maritime Campaign plan.
It also noted that it was imperative to increase defence cooperation by exchanging defence delegations. Minister sought the assistance of Japanese government to provide funding for the clean drinking water projects in Pakistan. He also lauded the efforts and contribution made by Seiji Kojima towards promoting and strengthening Pak- Japan ties during his tenure as Ambassador.
