Fujitsu Releases High-performance, Energy-saving 48-port Ethernet Switch

Fujitsu Limited today announced the development of a new compact Ethernet switch, the SR-S348TC1, which combines low power consumption with fast data throughput for use in datacenters and corporate networks that handle large volumes of data. The new switch is available beginning today.

The new switch houses 48 1G ports in a 1U-sized chassis that is the same size as Fujitsu's previous 24-port model, and allows for an additional four 10G ports to support blade and other high-performance servers, which have become datacenter mainstays in recent years. The switch runs on 27% less power than previous models and complies with RoHS regulations to reduce the burden on the environment. In addition, by accommodating a higher number of ports in a compact housing, it also reduces installed rack space by 50% as compared to Fujitsu's previous models.

Fujitsu has already begun to deploy the new switch in its own datacenters.

In recent years, companies have begun to shift all of their operational functions to run over networks by installing high-performance servers, PCs, and printers that can process enormous volumes of data. As a result, demand has increased for reliable and secure switches with eco-friendly features able to efficiently connect the equipment to company networks.

Fujitsu has been meeting these needs through its high-performance, highly reliable SR-S series of switches. Now, with the introduction of the SR-S348TC1, it offers a 48-port switch with a 1G high-speed interface for PC and server connections, along with a 10G interface for backbone network connections.

Used in datacenters or for backbone networks, this switch will allow for faster throughput while minimizing space and power requirements.

Fujitsu is also releasing today the SR-S248TC1 with 48 100M ports, which is ideal for use in connecting PC networks.
