Northrop Grumman-Led Joint Venture NSTec Earns Voluntary Protection Program Safety Award

The U.S. Department of Energy Voluntary Protection Program (DOE VPP) has awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation-led (NYSE:NOC) joint venture National Security Technologies LLC (NSTec) the highest STAR rating for safety.

Northrop Grumman is the managing partner of the joint venture that includes team members AECOM, CH2M Hill and Nuclear Fuel Systems.

The DOE VPP program recognizes and encourages excellence in occupational safety and health protection. Programs that meet the top requirements for outstanding safety and health receive a STAR rating -- only one percent of companies achieve this recognition. NSTec now has achieved the four highest standards for management excellence: the VPP STAR status, DOE's Earned Value Management System certification in project management, and the International Organization for Standardization certifications in quality and environmental management systems.

"Our team has developed and implemented world-class safety and health management procedures that reflect our commitment to a safer, more secure complex that meets the customer's needs today and for tomorrow," said Jim Cameron, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman's Technical Services sector. "Receiving this award demonstrates NSTec's dedication to excellence, top-notch leadership and superior performance."

"This completes a grand slam for NSTec in receiving these certifications, and I believe we can safely say now that we are among the best contractors in the complex," said Dr. Steve Younger, president of NSTec. "I want to say how proud I am of our employees and how hard they have worked to make this a safer place to work."

Northrop Grumman Corporation is a global defense and technology company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products, and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide.
