Lenovo eyes small- and medium-sized enterprise market

Lenovo Group (0992.HK; LNVGY.PK), China's leading PC producer, has launched new desktop and laptop models respectively named the Yangtian and IdeaPad series in China, targeting small and medium-sized enterprises.
The company said that it will establish 1,500 experience service centers by 2011, providing services specialized for small- and medium-sized business.
The company earlier announced the establishment of the Idea Product Group, which will serve mainstream consumers and small- and medium-sized enterprises within emerging markets.
So far, the Yangtian series has saturated into 20 percent of China's small- and medium-sized company market, according to Lenovo.
The company plans to upgrade technology and products to meet the market's requirements for costs saving, mobile convenience and internet applications, said Tang Jie, vice president of the company.
Market information provider ICD's statistics show that Lenovo delivered 2.8 million PCs in the Asia-Pacific Region in the first quarter of 2009, engulfing 16.9 percent of the total market share, compared to the 16.1 percent in Q1 2008, and 19.5 percent in Q4 2008.
