Storage Guardian Sees Enthusiastic Response to Tiered Online Backup Model

Storage Guardian, the company that specializes in channel-specific online backup solutions, is experiencing high demand for its 'tiered storage' approach to online data backup (http://www.storageguardian.com). The service was integrated into Storage Guardian's VAR program (http://www.storageguardian.com/var_recurring_revenues.php), last month, enabling VARs and MSPs to offer affordable remote backup protection to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). In as little as one month, SMB customers that need to ensure compliance with government-mandated retention of business records have migrated close to one terabyte of data into Storage Guardian's tiered-storage service. More than one hundred MSPs and VARs have also signed up.

"The typical situation is an MSP who engages with an SMB customer and helps them make the transition from local tape- and disk-based backup solutions to a totally outsourced, dependable and scalable online backup solution with no upfront hardware or software cost," says Dave Minns, client services manager at Storage Guardian. "This approach is very different to the consumer-grade backup vendors, which don't have service-level agreements and don't retain information for more than 30 days. We help our channel partners offer SMBs enterprise-grade online backup technology that is specifically geared to the unique needs of companies that use Microsoft Exchange, Small Business Server, SharePoint Server, and Active Directory technologies, and need bare-metal restore (http://www.storageguardian.com/storage_guardian_features.php) of critical data."

Dave Minns is presenting Storage Guardian's new service at this week's ASCII Group "Reseller Success Summit" in Washington DC. See the Storage Guardian blog (http://www.storageguardian.com/blog/vars-and-msps-learn-about-tiered-storage-at-this-week's-ascii-summit/) for more details.

In the past, the cost of 'highly available' and reliable online data storage for large volumes of data deterred SMBs from taking advantage of the technology. Storage Guardian now offers a hybrid model whereby 'highly available' storage is blended with a tiered-storage approach that features business continuity protection and intelligent backup lifecycle management (http://www.storageguardian.com/long_term_storage.php). This can reduce the cost per stored gigabyte to around 60 cents.

A no-cost, 30-day trial is available here: http://www.storageguardian.com/free_trial.php.

All Storage Guardian's solutions are based on Televaulting technology from Asigra, a recognized leader in enterprise online backup. The company is also developing a select network of authorized VARs to service the off-site backup and fast data recovery needs of companies located throughout North America. www.storageguardian.com.
