The National Women's Farmers Association (NAWFA), in collaboration with a Belgian NGO based in Dakar Senegal, last Monday convened a one-day training on sesami and banana production as well as leadership skills in Kerewan, North Bank Region.
Speaking to Daily Observer, the executive director of NAWFA, Njaga Jawo, said the training was based on three main areas - group management, advocacy, and leadership skills. According to him, in the group management session, they trained participants on sustainable and management in leadership skills to enable them to sustain their groups.
He said they are promoting the market value chain in sustainable agriculture meaning from the producer, to the marketer and then the consumer. "This will provide the trade price by establishing marketing partners with a guaranteed price for the farmers," he said. Momodu Marr, deputy governor of North Bank Region, urged the participants to take the training seriously and make best use of the knowledge gained.
