SmarTrend(R) News Watch: Orders to U.S. Factories Fall in March

The Commerce Department reported Friday that orders to U.S factories fell by 0.9% in March. Orders had posted declines for a six-straight months prior to February's reading. The reading was worse than analysts expectations of a 0.6% drop in orders. Shipments of manufactured products tumbled 1.2%, an eighth consecutive month of declines, the longest such stretch since 1992.
