Hendrum Drc Transitions To Sba Center; Mobile Center Moves To Ada To Open Friday

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (MDRC) in Hendrum will transition to a U.S. Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) beginning May 1.

The MDRC in Hendrum will close at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, and will open in Ada at noon on Friday, May 1 and remain open daily, except Sunday, until May 8. Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the SBA will staff the center. Additional federal and voluntary agencies also will provide staff and information.

The SBA DLOC in Hendrum will be in the same location that the FEMA MDRC occupied:

Hendrum Fire Hall 309 Main Street East Hendrum, MN 56550 Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The FEMA MDRC in Ada will be located at:

Ada Firehouse 5th and West Main Ada, MN 56510

Hours: May 1, noon to 7 p.m. May 2, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Closed Sunday, May 3 May 4 - May 7, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

DRC staff will answer questions about applying for disaster assistance, help with disaster loan applications, and provide information and contacts for other programs. A mitigation specialist will also be available to discuss cost-effective ways to reduce future disaster damages.

SBA representatives at the DRCs will meet with home and business loan applicants to provide assistance in completing their disaster loan applications and to accept completed disaster loan applications. Returning the application is an essential part of the disaster recovery process even for individuals who do not qualify for a loan.

FEMA leads and supports the nation in a risk-based, comprehensive emergency management system of preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation, to reduce the loss of life and property and protect the nation from all hazards including natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other man-made disasters.
