SmarTrend(R) News Watch: Apple's Jobs to Miss Keynote at Developers' Conference

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced that the keynote speech at their annual developers' conference in June will be given by marketing chief Phillip Schiller, not CEO Steve Jobs as many had expected. The Worldwide Developers Conference will be focused around showcasing the new iPhone OS and the new Mac OS, Snow Leopard. Many had also assumed that Jobs would be there to unveil the new line of iPhone products and possibly a tablet computer, but Jobs' absence throws an unexpected twist to the mix. Bloomberg quoted Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, who asserts that without Jobs, Apple may delay the new product announcements. Munster also says that Jobs, who has been on leave for health problems, may take be inclined to take a reduced role in the company, like chairman.
