With a view to achieve the target of prompt and timely foreign remittances of Western Union through all those sub post offices working in the far flung areas of the country. A fully equipped and state of the art second call centre has been opened in the office of the Postmaster General Punjab Lahore, as a joint venture of the Post Office Department and the Western Union, which was inaugurated by the Postmaster General Punjab and Ms Sobia Rehman, Regional Operational Manager for Afghanistan and Pakistan, here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Shamshad Hussain Khan, Postmaster General Punjab said all those sub post offices, which have not yet been computerised with regard to the transaction of the foreign remittances, have been connected with this call centre. He said the opening of this call centre would go a long way in facilitating the immediate remittances to the public living in remote areas of the country.

The Postmaster General, Punjab also informed that during the calendar year 2008, there was an overall increase of more than 79 per cent in the money transactions of Western Union done through sub post offices as well as General Post Offices (GPOs) working in different part of the country, as compared to the remittances done in previous calendar year. 'enemies of Pakistan to be defeated' Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab and member National Assembly Malik Muhammad Afzal Khokhar has said Pakistan came into being in the name of Allah the Merciful who would protect it, while the enemies of it would not succeed in their nefarious designs.

He stated this while addressing a ceremony here on Sunday. Malik Afzal Khokhar said a sincere and patriotic leadership in the guise of Nawaz Sharif was available for safeguarding the countrys solidarity. He said the politicians disliked by the people could no longer hoodwink them by issuing statements against Nawaz Sharif.

He said those who wanted to elect a dictator Pervez Musharraf in military uniform ten times were giving lesson of democracy; in fact they were politically immature for making the national leadership target of aimless criticism. He said the way Shahbaz Sharif provided relief to all segments of the society was a unique example. He said that during the rule of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi the cultivators of Punjab were exploited, while the people also faced acute type of flour crisis.
