Acme Packet Partners with Sprint Sp. in Poland

Acme Packet, a supplier of session border control solutions, said that Sprint Sp., an IP communications equipment reseller and integrator in Poland, will resell and support Acme Packet Net-Net session border controllers (SBCs) for service provider deployments in Poland.

Acme Packet also announced that as a result of this new distribution relationship, Vectra, the second largest cable operator and triple play services provider in Poland, has chosen Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs to deliver VoIP services to its residential customers.

Vectra, which has over 740,000 subscribers in over 150 cities in Poland, offers Telewizja Internet Telefon, a residential VoIP service. Vectra selected Acme Packet's SBC, the Net-Net 4250 Session Director (SD), to manage and secure its VoIP interconnects with other service providers.

Acme Packet's Net-Net 4250 SD incorporates Acme Packet's Net-SAFE security framework which provides Vectra with protection against service outages or loss of revenue caused by malicious attacks or non-malicious overloads. Net-SAFE provides dynamic access control, topology hiding and fraud prevention to protect Vectra's VoIP network. Acme Packet's call admission control policies allow Vectra to control the traffic entering its network from other service providers, ensuring service availability and quality. Vectra also chose the Net-Net 4250 SD for it carrier-class high availability which provides check-pointing of signaling, media and configuration state ensuring no loss of service.

"We chose Acme Packet's session border controllers for our IP network because voice is rapidly becoming an essential and revenue-generating service offering in our market," said Ryszard Jezierski, responsible for fixed telephony development in Vectra. "Working together with Sprint Sp. z o.o. and Acme Packet, we were able to rapidly deploy Acme Packet's carrier-class SBCs to ensure our network security, availability and call quality, and quickly tap into the new revenue opportunity that VoIP enables."

"Partnering with leading IP communications companies such as Acme Packet ensures that our service provider customers have a smooth transition to next-generation communication services," said Monika Fudala, Director of Telecommunication Systems Department for Sprint Sp. "With Acme Packet SBCs in the network, Vectra is able to advance its reputation as a pioneering service provider in Poland and capture the growing opportunity in VoIP services."
