INX Gets Unified Communications Infrastructure Contract with Cherokee Central Schools

INX Inc. announced that it has been awarded a $980,000 contract by Cherokee Central Schools for a Unified Communications Infrastructure for its new Green campus.

INX has been awarded the $980,000 contract to provide the new green campus with a communications infrastructure that will meet the customer's immediate needs of providing voice and data services to teachers, faculty and staff. The buildings will also be equipped with campus wide wireless coverage. On a larger scale, Cherokee Central Schools (CCS) has invested in a foundation that will support future educational initiatives, such as distance learning, video conferencing, and online collaboration.

CCS is completing construction on a new 470,00 square foot green campus in Cherokee, North Carolina, which will house elementary, middle and high school students and an indoor sports arena. The project is designed to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating. Once this certification is achieved, the CCS facility will be the largest LEED Certified school project east of the Mississippi River, the groups noted.

Frank Cooper, Finance Director/Project Manager for CCS noted: "Cherokee Central Schools looks forward to working with INX and continuing to build upon our partnership. This new school campus is an integral part of the Cherokee community and we are excited about our investment in a communications technology that we can leverage well into the future."

INX President Mark Hilz said, "We are pleased to be part of this important project for the Cherokee Central Schools and we are impressed with how progressive the overall project is."

The schools' Unified Communications project with INX is set to be completed by the end of May. Upon project completion, INX Managed Services will provide remote support for 12 months to ensure that the transition from deployment to production is seamless, the company noted in a release.
