Barclays Capital appoints new head of US economic research

Barclays Capital, the investment banking business of UK-based Barclays Bank, has appointed Dean Maki as the new head of US economic research and chief US economist.
Based in New York, Mr Maki is responsible for analyzing and forecasting the US economy and monetary and fiscal policy.
Previously co-head of US economic research for Barclays Capital, Mr Maki joined the firm in February 2005 from JPMorgan Chase, where he was vice president of economic research responsible for forecasts of Federal Reserve policy, the federal budget and Treasury debt issuance.
Larry Kantor, head of research for Barclays Capital, said: "Dean's experience and deep knowledge of the US economy is valued by our clients worldwide. In his new role, Dean will take full responsibility for our US economic research, including policy, analysis and forecasts."
