Brightpoint Announces Appointment of Stephen Babbage as Director of Its Newly Created Shared Services Center

Brightpoint, Inc. (Nasdaq:CELL) announced today the appointment of Stephen Babbage as Director of its newly created Shared Services Center (SSC) in Barcelona, Spain.

Consistent with our previous communications, we continue to make good progress on the establishment of the SSC which will centralize certain business support (or back office) functions to be shared across all of our properties in the region. Our Shared Services Center along with standardization across the European region will result in the efficiencies, enhancements and best practices necessary to meet our cost and effectiveness objectives.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Babbage was the Shared Services strategy lead for Sun Chemical Corporation in Europe. In this role, he successfully planned and managed transition of major country based operations into Shared Services. Prior to Sun Chemical, Mr. Babbage was General Manager at Impress Shared Services where he planned and led the successful implementation of six countries (France, Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands, UK and Italy) into the SSC. Mr. Babbage has practical understanding of cross-cultural issues, arising from working in some 50 countries and has demonstrated ability in bringing people and technology together.
