ARC Launches Sound-to-Silicon Solution for Media Phone Market

ARC International announced it has introduced a Sound-to-Silicon solution aimed at the new category of broadband-based multimedia device, the Media Phone.
ARC said its solution provides SoC partners and OEMs with a platform that includes ARC's Sonic Focus audio enrichment software, codecs, and development tools for ARC's latest AS 211 SFX Audio Subsystem intellectual property (IP).
In-Stat reported that Media Phones are aimed at both enterprise and home use and will account for up to $8 billion in annual revenue by 2013.
ARC's Media Phone Solution includes the following features:
- Sonic Focus audio enrichment software that runs 50 percent faster in embedded applications
- The configurable AS 211 SFX Subsystem intellectual property (IP)
- A Media Software Framework (MSF) that provides software developers a software API
- A set of software and hardware development tools
- A range of pre-integrated audio and video codecs managed by ARC
- A reference platform for complete Sound-to-Silicon hardware and software development
