Document Storage Systems Purchases Informatix Laboratories

Document Storage Systems Inc. (DSS) announced that it has acquired Informatix Laboratories Corp. (ILC) of Salt Lake City, Utah.

In a release, the company noted that ILC's Patient Account Management System (PAMS) is the leading revenue cycle solution for the Indian Health Service's (IHS) and Tribal Health Center's RPMS (Resource and Patient Management System). For more than 14 years, DSS has been working with the Veterans Administration providing EHR development, integration and installation expertise. In the commercial marketplace, DSS offers vxVistA, their enhanced, open source version of the VA's VistA system. RPMS and VistA are technologically similar in functional and practical design.

Mark Byers, President of DSS, Inc. said: "DSS looks forward to working with the ILC staff and expanding their operations within the IHS, VA and commercial markets. We are offering PAMS-VA to the VA as a replacement for the VistA Integrated Billing and Accounts Receivable System and offering vxPAMS to the commercial healthcare market."

Acquiring ILC and their expertise with the RPMS system will allow DSS to quickly integrate their products. The DSS product set to be offered to IHS will include products such as their Release of Information (ROI) system; DocManager, their document scanning and indexing system; Clinical Note Templates (CNT) a suite of over 300 clinical documentation tools; and their Mental Health Suite. "IHS and Tribal Health Centers can now take advantage of the enhanced speed, accuracy and reporting capabilities that these products provide; allowing providers to spend less time on paperwork and more time with their patients," said Joe Byers, DSS, Inc. Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

Byers went on to say: "We want to be a positive partner for technology change within the RPMS environment. By adapting DSS technology, quality assurance and deployment methodology to RPMS sites we will be able to help a wider range of facilities that previously could not take full advantage of our in-depth experience in health care."

DSS, Inc. - The VistAExperts, is a developer of integrated software packages for the VHA's VistA system.
