Spectra Logic enters into OEM agreement with Symantec

Spectra Logic, a provider of storage solutions, has entered into an original equipment manufacturer agreement with Symantec, a provider of anti-virus, internet security, and anti-spyware products.
Spectra Logic said that the company now offers Symantec's suite of data protection software as an option to its line of tape and disk-based backup and archive solutions. Spectra Logic can now provide customers a single point of contact for architecting, purchasing, installing and supporting a complete data protection solution that includes both disk and tape.
Randy Cochran, vice president for North America channel at Symantec, said: "Customers are looking to simplify the management of their data protection solutions. Spectra's disk and tape products bundled with Symantec NetBackup and Backup Exec is truly a complete solution that meets customers' needs for a unified single point of contact for data protection."
Molly Rector, vice president of product management and marketing at Spectra Logic, said: "Under the new agreement, customers and reseller partners can purchase a complete, certified archive and backup solution with support and implementation services all from one vendor. A single purchase order and support for both hardware and software streamline the purchasing and maintenance process for organizations."
