'Virgin Mobile France picks GetJar for new app store'

MVNO Virgin Mobile France has chosen independent app store GetJar to provide its catalogue of mobile applications for the operator's new mobile app store, to be launched on 17 June. Customers will be offered access to more than 45,000 free apps via the Virgin Mobile France portal, alon with key content including ringtones and premium games. GetJar, which is based in the US, UK and Lithuania, already works with companies such as Sony Ericsson and 3UK. It boasts over 1 million downloads a day in over 200 countries. Virgin Mobile France will be able to immediately offer consumers who subscribe to its new unlimited data plans a wide range of apps on the largest range of handsets, said the operator's marketing and communication director, Julien Allisy.
