Wireless Matrix Sponsors Aberdeen Group Report on Fleet Management

According to Wireless Matrix, in an uncertain economy organizations are turning to GPS-enabled service workforce and fleet management solutions.

These firms are actively looking to increase visibility into all service resources via GPS, according to a recent research report entitled "Service Workforce and Fleet Management: Driving Utilization with Location Intelligence," published by the Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company.

"The Aberdeen report is further proof of the value and the rapid return on investment that GPS solutions can offer companies," said Wireless Matrix President and CEO Richard J. Carlson. "This third-party research confirms that Best-in-Class companies are integrating GPS intelligence with enterprise back-office systems to drive their bottom line business metrics."

Research findings in the Service Workforce and Fleet Management report indicate responding firms have seen the following average improvements in key service performance indicators since the adoption of GPS-enable solutions:

- A 25 percent reduction in idle times

- A 32 percent increase in fleet utilization

- A 22 percent decrease in fuel costs and a 31 percent drop in daily mileage

- A 23 percent boost in workforce productivity.

"Organizations responding to our research indicate that they currently monitor and track the location of 47 percent of their vehicles," said Sumair Dutta, senior research analyst, Aberdeen Group. "This is up from an average of 35 percent in 2008, and our respondents indicate further investments in 2010. These trends are indicative of the value offered by GPS-enabled tracking, navigation and routing solutions, such as those offered by Wireless Matrix, in meeting cost containment and customer management pressures faced by today's service and manufacturing organizations."

Wireless Matrix delivers real-time data services across cellular, satellite and WiFi networks; a variety of modems and hardware platforms; and transportation applications.
