"OnLove" Becomes Newest Feature to Style & Arts; Launches Online

WASHINGTON, Jun 19, 2009 -- Love will take center stage in The Washington Post's Style & Arts section beginning this Sunday. "OnLove" will be a page about weddings and relationships in the print edition and online at www.washingtonpost.com/onlove.

"Washingtonians have been waiting for this--a place to get a glimpse into the many extravagant, unique, creative weddings in the area and the people behind them, whether it's a neighbor, a notable or an unlikely couple. Like it or not, personal relationships consume our lives, and OnLove will tell the stories that reflect the diversity, drama and humor of relationships in Washington that readers won't be able to resist," said Ellen McCarthy, the lead reporter on weddings, who previously wrote a dating column for the Weekend section.

Each Sunday in the newspaper, readers will find a narrative profile of a Washington wedding, covering details of the event and an intimate portrait of the couple. In addition, two smaller profiles of newlyweds will give readers a glimpse of life after the main event.

As everyone knows weddings are not the beginning or the end of the story, OnLove will also feature coverage of relationships beyond nuptials including:

-- A look at couples who have been married for different periods: 10, 25, 50, and even 65 years

-- Q&A with a professional, whose career revolves around relationships, such as a couples counselor who specializes in gay relationships or a greeting card writer.

-- Chronicles from digital love which might include a pair of childhood sweethearts randomly reunited on an online dating site or the trials of a Second Life divorce.

-- Overviews of nonfiction books that focus on relationships, and much more.

The online section will invite readers to submit photos, take polls and explore wedding resources, as well as provide photo galleries, videos and live discussions with experts.

This Sunday, OnLove will profile the recent wedding of President Obama's Domestic Policy Director Melody Barnes and online will have a video interview with former TV bachelorette DeAnna Pappas discussing her views on love in her new TV show, "Get Married."

Readers may also submit their wedding to be considered for coverage in OnLove by visiting www.washingtonpost.com/yourweddingstory.
