Global Crossing expands data centre in Buenos Aires

IP solutions provider Global Crossing (Nasdaq:GLBC) announced on Monday the completion of its Data Center expansion in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
According to the company, a new electrical subsystem increases power by 120%, enabling the centre to serve more customers. In a first stage, the Data Center operations area will be extended 115 m sq, with new office space added as well. No financial details were disclosed.
The company's Data Center solutions provide customers with housing, hosting, processing storage, backup, monitoring and security, in addition to managed services, enabling a secure data management for their technological platform and applications.
The Argentina Data Center has also been implementing several green initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint, including implementing server virtualisation and reducing energy consumption.
The centre, located in the neighbourhood of Chacarita since 2000, is part of Global Crossing's Latin America Data Centers Network. All of the Data Centers in the network have been designed to perform to similar standards, following identical processes and offer comparable products, the company said.
